CJPD Education Fund

Empowering Vulnerable Students — Building a Just and Hopeful Future

About the Education Fund

The Catholic Justice and Peace Department (CJPD) Education Fund was established in 2019 as a diocesan initiative to support vulnerable learners from poor backgrounds who are unable to afford school fees. Through this fund, the Diocese of Kakamega continues to live out the Gospel message of love, justice, and compassion.

The program focuses on providing scholarships, mentorship, and psychosocial support to students at secondary and university levels. It is a collaborative effort supported by parish communities, well-wishers, and faithful donors committed to social transformation through education.

Message from the Bishop

Bishop Joseph Obanyi

Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Obanyi Sagwe

Bishop of Kakamega Diocese

“Education is a sacred tool of transformation. Through the CJPD Education Fund, we extend the hand of Christ to those who might otherwise lose hope. Let us continue to support our young people to become future leaders who embody the values of peace, truth, and justice.”

Message from the CJPD Coordinator

Fr. Boniface Mubwanga

Fr. Boniface Mubwanga

Diocesan CJPD Coordinator

“Our mission is to nurture minds and hearts. Every coin given to this fund is an investment in peace, leadership, and justice. When we empower a student, we uplift a family, and through them, we heal our community.”

Impact and Progress

Since its launch, the CJPD Education Fund has supported dozens of students from across Kakamega Diocese. Many of them have successfully completed their education and now contribute to their families and communities as teachers, social workers, and faith-driven leaders.

The fund stands as a symbol of the Church’s commitment to holistic human development — ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to education and hope.

Message from Alumni Beneficiaries

CJPD Kakamega Diocese David Mutula - Alumni

“As one of the beneficiaries of the CJPD Education Fund, I am deeply grateful to the Diocese and the generous supporters who believed in our dreams. This initiative gave me and many others the opportunity to pursue education at the university level, breaking the cycle of poverty and inspiring us to give back to society.

On behalf of all alumni, I express our heartfelt appreciation to the Bishop, the CJPD team, and every parishioner who continues to support this noble cause. May God bless you abundantly for making education possible for the less privileged.”

— A Grateful Beneficiary & Alumni ( David Mutula)
